Josué Monroy
Communications Coordinator
As Communications Coordinator, Josué helps support the Engagement and Impact team with data driven storytelling to inspire generosity from community members, celebrate the work of our nonprofit partners, and share the impact the Community Foundation has on Santa Cruz County.
A first-generation Santa Cruzan, Josué understands the nuances of this community and the importance of connecting with people from all walks of life. In his most recent role as Reporter for Good Times, Josué covered important events like the Pajaro floods in 2023, which brought disparities in our community into stark relief.
Josué followed a non-traditional path on his professional journey, attending Cabrillo College and then UC Davis as a reentry student. His interest in Latin American politics led him to obtain a bachelor’s degree in International Relations in 2021. Before that, he helped run a local tile shop, worked in customer service, construction, and landscaping. He is also a musician and has been part of the local music scene for over ten years. These experiences have cemented his love for the hard-working families and artists in the community.
Josué’s time as a journalist bolstered his desire to work towards building a more equitable Santa Cruz County, and he is honored to get an opportunity to help do that with the Foundation.
Josué is here to help connect the visions of our nonprofits and donors to the greater community, and to showcase our county’s philanthropic efforts as an example to follow.
