Healthy Kids of Santa Cruz County was developed to ensure health care for low-income children of our county. Healthy Kids offers insurance to children in families at or below poverty levels, regardless of immigration status. More than 45,000 children in Santa Cruz County under the age of 19 are uninsured at one time. Of these, 2,300 do not qualify for state sponsored programs. Healthy Kids seeks to either enroll children in public insurance programs or offer them coverage administered by the program. The Foundation received a $347,000 grant the David and Lucile Packard Foundation to kick off a fundraising campaign for the program.
